Top 10 Korean Fried Chicken Joints in Ottawa That Are Totally Addictive

korean-fried-chicken-joints-in-ottawa

So, my niece from Seoul came to visit me last summer. Sweet kid, but there was just one thing on her mind: Korean fried chicken

One day, as we were exploring downtown, she suddenly told me, “I gotta have my chimaek fix!” (For those who don’t know, that’s Korean fried chicken and beer). Now, while I may not be into that kind of food, I took her challenge head-on.

Gladly, there are a lot of Korean fried chicken joints in Ottawa that are as authentic as can be. Now here it is, folks! I’ve listed them down below, and if you’re salivating already, you’re in good company, so follow along!

K, Lets’ Eat has an extensive offering of K-fried chicken, with flavours ranging from sweet chili and soy garlic to snowy cheese and zesty cream onion (which is boneless, by the way).

If you’re a spicy lover, there’s the hot chili pepper flavour for you where you can choose the level of spiciness to your liking. But don’t just stop at the chicken! Your Korean experience wouldn’t be complete without trying some other Korean cuisine as well.

Starting with the famous jajangmyeon and kimchi fried rice, which are both hearty and delicious. For something heavier, they’ve got seafood and beef jjampong that will satisfy any craving.

Pro tip:

They solely offer dine-in and take-out, so keep in mind they haven’t jumped on the delivery wagon yet. Make sure to plan accordingly to enjoy this deliciousness!

If you’re a fan of boneless chicken, Table Sodam offers spicy or soy dakgangjeong, which is the Korean name of marinated fried boneless chicken. Even better, this chicken already comes with Alfredo linguini pasta or corn cheese.

They also offer cheese dakgangjeong, available in whole or half portions—another must-try. Beyond the chicken, they’ve got some incredible Korean dishes like bulgogi or vegetable bibimbap that deserve a shout-out.

Don’t miss their kimchi in a jar if you want to take some authentic Korean flavour home with you.

Pro tip:

They operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so get there early to grab a spot and avoid any wait time.

Jumak Korean Kitchen and Pub is a haven for chicken wing lovers, offering wings in quantities of 6, 12, or 18 pieces—well, we always opt for the 12! If drumsticks are more your style, you can get them in orders of 5 or 10 pieces.

Now, if you want to sample multiple flavours, their half/half chicken with two sauces option is ideal, or go all-in with a whole chicken (no judgment here!).

Furthermore, their dakgangjeong chicken, Korean-style nuggets with sweet chili sauce, and cream onion chicken are best-sellers you shouldn’t miss. If you’re visiting with kids, their chicken combo is perfect—it comes with drumsticks, wings, chicken pop, and fries.

Pro tip:

They don’t have a pre-cooked K-fried chicken, meaning you might face a bit of a wait. To tide you over, we highly recommend ordering some of their tantalising appetisers.

If spicy is your thing, then you gotta try their Hot Devil Chicken or the Pelicana Signature Spicy Chicken. You can round out your order with some of their sides like deep fried seaweed roll or tteokbokki—both of these are great!

On the drinks front, Pelicana keeps it simple yet authentic with choices like Korean pear juice, grape juice, the famous Milkis, and some classic sodas.

Formerly known as The Fry, this place has rebranded but still brings the same delicious K-fried offerings. For the best flavours, I recommend the hot soy garlic and yang nyeom chicken—both have us coming back frequently.

If wings are more your style, you’re in luck—they’ve got wings available in these two flavours as well. They also serve up tasty sides like calamari, cheese spring rolls, Korean panko shrimp and pickled radish (the most common side in Korea!).

Pro tip:

They’re not very active on social media, so your best bet for updated menu lists, specials, and promotions is to visit them in person. Trust me, it’s worth the trip!

Since their portions are substantial, consider sharing with friends or family to get the most variety out of your visit.

But that’s not all—their menu also features some interesting meat pies in flavours like beet, spicy chicken, and pumpkin.
